Pharm. IGWE, Ukagha was born in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, into a family with strong pharmaceutical pedigree. His father, Late Mazi Okoro IGWE, FPSN, was a distinguished Pharmacist of note with over 50 years in practice. Ukagha earned a Bachelor of Pharmacy (B. Pharm) degree from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, in 1989. He did his Internship training at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital and completed his NYSC in Rivers State. He joined SWISSCO NIG LTD (SANDOZ PHARMA) as a Medical Representative in January 1993. He excelled in his work and won several Awards. Ukagha later joined Novartis Pharma Services Scientific Office in 1998, following the merger of Ciba Geigy and Sandoz Pharma AG, as a Product Specialist. He won the Award of ‘Representative of the Year’ at a glittering ceremony in Basle, Switzerland in February 1999. In 2001, he joined the family business, Famatex Pharmaceuticals Ltd. He has since repositioned the business as a regional powerhouse in Pharmaceutical Wholesale and Distribution in the South-South region of Nigeria winning several awards. He is currently the National Vice Chairman of Pharmaceutical Wholesalers and Distributors Association of Nigeria, PWDAN and also serves as the South South Region Cordinator of PWDAN. He is a Fellow of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria. He is a 2022 Merit Award Winner (MAW) of PSN Rivers State. He served as Member of PSN Rivers State, Pharmaceutical Resource Centre (PSR) Fund raising Committee and is currently a Member of the Rivers State PSN-PSR Project Implementation Committee. He is on the Board of Directors of several companies. Pharm. Ukagha Igwe is widely travelled and has attended many Pharmaceutical Conferences in Nigeria and abroad. Including FIP Congress in Amsterdam 2012, FIP Congress Dusseldorf 2015. He has also attended Connvention of Pharmaceutical Ingredients CPHI in Dusseldorf 2017 and Madrid 2018. He has also attended The Pharmacy Show in Birmingham on several occasions. IGWE, Ukagha is a natural born Leader, serving as School Captain/Head Boy FGC Okigwe 1984. He is a Community Leader of note, frequently serving as a pivot for many of the association he belongs to. He is the Deputy Leader, Unity Schools Old Students Association Resident in Port Harcourt URIP. He previously served as the Secretary of Port Harcourt Polo Club. Amongst many other community leadership positions.
